Just Creative

Just Creative Design. Well what to say - this is brilliant. Im looking into a lot of freelance designers and design houses at the minute for inspiration for my own re-brand and this fella seems to be VERY creative.
The work he produces seems to be different each time - no real trend or style which i like. His business card and brand logo caught my eye though because of its brilliant simple design. All i can really say here is ... im jealous.

Believe In

Believe In is a design and branding agency is Exeter. I stumbled across their website recently while looking for inspiration in identity for myself. Looking deeper into their site I found they were established in 1996 and recently re-branded themselves ... and what a job they did.
Belows image of the stamp is very useful for me as I couldn't think of a way to make a simple 'there and then' business card and seeing this stamp helped me decide - thats how to do it.

The work Believe In produce is very organic and commercial. As stated above they specialise in branding and the work they do is brilliant. The works seems to have a trend however. No bright colour pallets, simple typography and little image. However the work is beautiful non the less.

Oakley design comp

Over summer - Oakley Sunglasses put forward a live brief to all designers and artists to produce artwork for a new set of glasses to be launched later this year. Inlcuded in the brief was to produce the artwork for the glasses, packaging and cover.
Although this brief has already taken place I am going to use it as one of my short briefs which can range between 4 - 7 days. This way I will be able to produce a fair amount of work to a reasonably simple brief.

Below is the competition rules - followed by some examples of entries from artists and designers. Some of the work is amazing and seem to be a strong brief for illustrators. This is my chance to bring some of my illustration into my work.
In this brief there are no colour pallet restrictions etc - the only restriction is how far your creative mind will take it.

Heineken - Commercial Gods

It has to be said - Heineken are commercial gods. With their recent walk in fridge ad - I decided to have a look at other designs which have been produced for them. And below I have my favorite. We all know 3D is getting big at the minute - and this huge ad board uses shadows to its absolute advantage. Heineken - not only a great drink but also a brilliant advertisement producer.
I will be inspired by this for its minimalistic design. The only type on the artwork is down the bottom right corner and on the Heineken bottle. This is brilliant use of space, layout and colour.

More street art

I have always been a fan of street art and after my recent trip to Melbourne (Oz) its come back hard. In melbourne they have streets dedicated to street artists. I decided to look into artwork produced on the streets as I have a potential, self-written competition brief that could include street artists and illustrators alike.
There are no particular artists I have looked at below - I simply googled the images and took the ones i felt were my style and the type of artwork i would love to include in this brief.

More from McDonalds

McDonalds are a worldwide fast food branch - so it comes to no suprise that they have some of the best advertising around. Below are several of my favorite examples.
Below 1 + 2: Using the concept of fresh food in a busy urban area is a brilliant idea - and McDonalds did it. The ad below is so affective and mind blowing that it spreads word of mouth .. and we all know what that does. Makes us hungry and crave a McDonalds. I want one rite now just writing about the damn things.

Very simple yet imaginative and affective design once again from McDonalds. With the eye immediatley being drawn towards the newspaper print - you just scan over the sign on the right telling you to try the new breakfast sandwich. McDonalds ... you clever people.
